Santosh University is a Deemed University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and notified by the Government of India in Notification No. F.9-2/2003 U-3 dated 13.06.2007 by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi. Santosh Medical College and Santosh Dental College functioning under “Santosh Trust” were awarded University status. The Santosh University was set up by the Maharaji Educational Trust instituted by Dr. P. Mahalingam from Chennai.
