VELS University also known as Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies is a Deemed University. The University status was conferred to Vel's Group of Institutions, by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India in 2008. The university is managed by Vel's Educational Trust founded by Dr. Ishari K Ganesh in 1992. Dr. Ishari K Ganesh is a visionary and an eminent educationalist and the founder of the prestigious Vel’s Group of Institutions. To promote a student-friendly learning environment, the University is following the semester pattern and choice based credit system for its entire academic programmes both at the under-graduate and post graduate levels.
