International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore is a Deemed University established in 1999. An Autonomous Institute, it is popularly known as IIIT-B. It has been established on the lines of other well established Institutes of National Importance (INI) in India. These INIs include the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The other objective behind setting up the institute is to contribute to the IT world by focusing on education, research, entrepreneurship and innovation.
