The long-cherished dream of the local people to have a centre of higher education in Guruvayur got realised on 18th July 1964 with the formal inauguration of Sree Krishna College. The inaugural course on offer was Pre-Degree Course affiliated to the Kerala University. 1964 also witnessed the foundation stone of the permanent building being laid at Ariyannur. In 1967, the College was shifted to the well accomplished building at Ariyannur that could cater to the needs of a first grade College, which offered degree courses in Arts & Science.
