With a mission to further the advancement of high-level learning and research on Tamil language, literature, and culture, Tamil University Thanjavur offers PG, B.Ed, M.Ed, PhD, and M.Phil programs. Tamil University, Thanjavur was established in 1981 and believes in inculcating professional values and ethical behavior. To help students pursue their studies and work at the same time, Tamil University, Thanjavur also started the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE). This Directorate started its academic services from 2005-06 in various disciplines. However, in 2012-13, 29 new courses were introduced. Moreover, the University is planning to introduce new courses in the coming academic years.
